The biography of Denver-based Slim Cessna’s Auto Club starts with the statement that “There comes a moment in every Slim Cessna’s Auto Club show when you realize you’re seeing something you’ll never see anywhere else”. That exactly describes my experience when I had the privilege of seeing SCAC play at Patronaat Haarlem on the evening of 25 May.
And there are more quotes giving a pretty accurate idea of what to expect when you go to see SCAC, like: “If you’ve got a heart, these songs’ll break it, and if you’ve got any laughter left in you, they’ll beat it out of you until you cry”. Or Dead Kenndys Jello Biafra’s: “the country band that plays the bar at the end of the world.” Not much to add to those well spoken words.
Slim Cessna’s Auto Club was formed in 1992 by Slim Cessna, and last year they released their 6th studio album ‘The Commandments According To SCAC’
SCAC are: Slim Cessna (vocals), Jay Munli (vocals, guitar, banjo), Dwight Pentacost (guitar), Ian O’Dougherty (bass), Rebecca Vera (pedal steel) and Andrew Warner (drums).
