Dana Fuchs (P60 Amstelveen, November 2014)

The first time I saw Dana Fuchs (38) perform was at Bospop Fesitval in 2008. It was Dana’s stage debut in The Netherlands and it was a typical case of love at first sight between Dana and Holland.

In 2001 Dana was casted for the leading rol in the off-Broadway musical ‘Love, Janis’. For those who have had the pleasure of hearing Dana sing that makes perfect sense as the association with Janis Joplin’s style and voice is easily made. A first album was released in 2003 and in 2007 she played the role of singer Sadie in the movie ‘Across The Universe’ which was built around songs of The Beatles. Her version of Helter Skelter is absolutely memorable.
Latest studio album is ‘Bliss Avenue’ (2013) and just now her new live double album ‘Songs From The Road’ was released.

I shot these pictures of her fabulous show in P60 Amstelveen on 20 November 2014, with Jon Diamond on guitar, Walter Latupeirissa on bass and Piero Perelli on drums
