On 28 October Dana Fuchs visited a town called Winnenden, in the south of Germany, for a stripped down acoustic show at a private party organized by friends Hans and Andie Wöhr, and Susan Jones.
This summer Dana has recorded her new album Love Lives On in Memphis and this month she hit Europe for the second time this year with her Ready To Rise Tour. The new album will be out early 2018 but last Saturday we got to hear a lot of it already.
Stripped down means that Dana left the band she tours Europe with (Walter Latupeirissa on bass, Nicola Venturini on keys and Piero Perelli on drums) behind and that she is on stage as a duo with Jon Diamond, “the man who puts music to her words”, on guitar and bluesharp.
Private, in that sense that it was for invitees only, so a select crowd from several European countries gathered that night to share Dana’s quest to embrace our lost loved ones and celebrate life together.
For this memorable evening amongst friends I brought a silent camera, in order not to disturb the atmosphere with the usual loud clicking of the shutters. That soon proved to be an absolutely unnecessary precaution, stripped down and acoustic in Dana’s terms apparently does not mean quiet … 🙂
Dana and Jon made this a wonderful evening. supported by tourmanager Wim Booltink (guitar on Lonely For A Lifetime) and little Aidan (backing vocals at random), and in the encore even an acoustic version of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love proved to rock like hell!
